I visited King Edwards Bay this morning and yesterday morning, at Tynemouth on the Northumberland coastline, this spot is right next to the entrance of the River Tyne, the famous river which runs through Newcastle.

Last night was my first ever attempt at Startrail Photography, my location was on the dunes at Duridge Bay at Cresswell on the Northumberland coast, only a 10 minute drive from where i live and with not much light pollution from towns & cities. After doing a little research before attempting this i found out that all the other stars revolve around the North Star, aka the Polaris Star.

Decided to take the trip to Beadnel this morning as the tides were correct for this shot, the one thing i didnt expect was the monster seas, the waves were gigantic, this was a scary place in the dark. I almost got swept away twice, so after the second time i called it a day, sunrise wasnt amazing but i did get a bit of colour, with a strong Easterly wind i knew spray was gonna cause me some problems, and it certainly did, i took lots of shots but only managed about 3 keepers, i just couldnt control the spray in the end, oh well better luck next time.

This morning i stayed very local for sunrise as the weather wasnt very good, i ended up at ‘Needles Eye’ at Newbiggin By The Sea on the Northumberland coast which is only a 10 minute drive from where i live. Sunrise wasnt great and i only managed a couple of keepers, this spot is certainly worth a re-visit sometime.

This morning i decided to try Old Hartley on the Northumberland Coast, its about a 20 minute drive from where i live, and its a place i havnt photographed in a very long time. The tide wasnt perfect and the Sea was quite a way back, which uncovered the rocks across the bay from St Mary’s Lighthouse, giving me some further interest to the shot.
